The Activ5 by Activlife solution includes a pressure roller and a Bluetooth-connectable smartphone app.
The Activ5 roller has 3 pressure sensors for measuring the number of kilos of force you are able to apply on its 2 sides.
The more pressure you exert, the more kilos will be displayed on the Activ5 app.
The app therefore displays your muscle strength in kilograms and lets you participate in over a hundred muscle-strengthening exercises based on isometrics, a concept also called core conditioning.
The aim of the exercises is to apply more or less pressure on the roller, using a point located on the screen, to follow a path made up of rising and falling phases, as precisely as possible.
Isometrics = Core conditioning = Static muscular effort during which 2 forces oppose each other
Focus on the Activ5 by Activlife app
The Activ5 application is available to download free from the App Store and Google Play Store.
It contains over a hundred individual exercises, workouts and programmes.
While the exercises are designed for targeting one precise muscle group over another, the workouts allow you to cross-train, i.e. do a set of exercises targeting complementary muscle groups.
The programmes will allow you to follow several series of exercises over 5 or 6 successive weeks.
The statistics section lets you track your weekly and monthly goals as well as the symmetry of your strength and muscle control.
Yes, but what exactly does isometric mean?
Isometric training is based solely on body weight and the concept of muscle core conditioning.
Essential for athletes who often use it during their warm-up or cool-down, core conditioning – or isometric workout – is static and safe muscular effort essential to balancing your muscle groups.
More specifically, isometric training is used within disciplines such as yoga, pilates or to supplement various team or individual sports. In particular, this is what you do when you perform a plank on your elbows or spread your arms with a resistance band.
Core conditioning has many benefits such as toning your deep muscles, looking after your joints or developing muscle stamina.
